EVENTS COMMITTEE AGENDA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a meeting of Eccleshall Parish Council Events Committee will be held on Wednesday 3rd September 2025, Eccleshall Community Centre, at 7pm, preceding the meeting of the Planning committee.
1. Apologies
2. To elect a Chairman and Vice-Chairman
3. To approve the minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday, May 7th 2025
4. Upcoming Events:
- To consider entry into the 2025 Christmas tree festival
- To consider the request for a Parish Council representative to attend a joint concert on 25th October in Eccleshall to deliver a welcome/present a gift to a visiting French choir
5. New Events – to note receipt of a £6,000 grant from UKSPF funding to support events that will drive footfall into the town centre and to consider events to spend the funding prior to 31 March 2026
6. Forward Planning – to consider future activities, projects and agree a budget for the financial year 2026/27

ECCLESHALL PARISH COUNCIL – EVENTS COMMITTEE MINUTES – Sept 3rd 2025
DRAFT
A meeting of the Events Committee was held on Wednesday Sept 3rd 2025 at Eccleshall Community Centre at 7.00pm, preceding the Planning Committee meeting.
Present were: –
Councillor D. Feneysey (Chairman) Councillor M. Gosling

No members of the public
1). Apologies
Apologies were received from Cllrs. Hill and Dale.
2). Election of the Chair and Vice- Chair:
Councillor P. Jones took the Chair and requested nominations for Chairman of the Committee. Councillor Feneysey was nominated and elected as Chair for the ensuing year.
Councillor Feneysey requested nominations for Vice-Chair of the committee and Councillor D. Hill was duly elected.
3). To approve the minutes of the Events Committee held on 7th May 2025:
The minutes, which had been previously circulated, were agreed and signed.
4). Upcoming Events:
- To consider entry into the 2025 Christmas tree festival: It was resolved to enter the Christmas tree festival with a Parish Council and a library tree. Cost last year was £38 per tree. Cllr. Taylor will look for the EPC decorations in the library.
- To consider the request for a Parish Council representative to attend a joint concert on 25th October, 6.30pm in Eccleshall to deliver a welcome/present a gift to a visiting French choir: It was resolved that Cllr. Taylor will attend the event to represent the council and welcome the choir. She will liaise with her contact to determine a suitable gift, with an agreed budget of up to £50. Cllr. Gosling will also attend the concert.
5). New events:-
The committee noted the council is due to be awarded a further £6,000 (UKSPF funding) via Stafford Borough Council to allocate to an event, or events, to support events that will drive footfall into the town centre. The money is required to be spent by 31 March 2026.
LR Partnership Events has expressed an interest in running another spring fair but would need the full amount of funding to deliver this.
There has also been some initial interest from local businesses in delivering an event along the High Street.
Members suggested a Beer/Food Festival, to incorporate daytime activities to include the shops.
Cllr. Hill has been involved in the local business conversations. It was agreed that this would be an item on the September council meeting, and Cllr. Feneysey will liaise with Cllr. Hill to request an outline proposal for consideration.
6). Forward Planning – to consider future activities, projects and agree a budget for the financial year 2026/27:
There are no significant national events expected for 2026 and no large scale events planned at present. It was resolved to submit a £3,000 budget for 2026/27, the same as this year.
