The minutes, which had been previously circulated, were agreed and signed.
3). Events:
To consider any event proposals for 2026:
- There were no upcoming national landmark events for 2026 flagged up for event planning. Members will bring any other proposals to the next meeting for consideration or forward to the Clerk for inclusion on the agenda.
To receive any updates on the March Community Event funded by the High Street Boost grant:
- There is a planning meeting arranged between the church and the organising business group on the 19th January, and further updates will be provided after this. The Council has the remaining High Street Boost funds to release as needed.
Other updates:
- The Christmas Advent event, delivered by local businesses and the church, was a great success. It significantly increased the footfall in the High Street during the day, as well as attendance at the lights switch on, with a huge turnout for the lantern parade. It also raised some funding towards the March event. A full report and costings will be provided to the council in due course.
- The Christmas Tree festival, in which both the library and Parish Council participated, had a record number of approximately 77 trees on display, and was very well attended.
- Carols around the tree on the 22nd Dec continues to be popular, with around 250-300 people in attendance.
- The Staffordshire Young Farmers Tractor run was also popular, with many turning out to see the tractors on their way down the High Street, raising money for Staffordshire YFC and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
4). Correspondence:-
There was no correspondence for consideration.
5). Items for next meeting
Items can be forwarded to the Clerk.
6). Date of next meeting:-
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday March 4th at 7pm, prior to a meeting of the planning committee.
