ECCLESHALL PARISH COUNCIL – FOOTPATHS COMMITTEE MINUTES
February 5th, 2025
DRAFT
A meeting of the Footpaths Committee was held on Wednesday, February 5th, at 7pm at Eccleshall Community Centre.
Present were:-
Councillor R. Taylor (Chair) Councillor S. Mifflin
Councillor D. Hill Councillor D. Hall
Co-opted member:
Mr. N. Davenport
Mrs S. J. Worden (Clerk)
1). Apologies:-
Apologies were received from Cllrs. Perren, Wilkins and Mr. Cole.
2). To approve the minutes of the meeting held on November 6th, 2024.
The minutes, which had been previously circulated, were agreed and signed.
3). Review of current maintenance schedule, work completed to date and any new issues to consider.
The updated maintenance schedule was circulated for information prior to the meeting.
Items pending included:
- FP94 broken stile – outstanding due to the need for volunteer support to move materials and equipment. The Clerk has again requested help from the Rights of Way team.
- New items:
- Overgrown pathway on footpath 149 the Dingle/Dells area. Cllr. Taylor will ask Mr. Cole if there is any work we can undertake on this area.
The Clerk has requested new fingerposts from the County Council team and is awaiting confirmation of availability.
Cllr. Hill advised that there are opportunities for lighter duties to be supported by Drake Hall volunteers as she has established contacts within the prison who are keen to support work within the local community.
4). Footpath Walks:
- No further updates
5). Update on Keep Eccleshall Tidy Team (KETT)
- Cllr. Taylor is handing the management of the team over to Cllr. Wilkins, who will get in touch to re-engage the volunteers.
- It was noted that this is another opportunity for support from Drake Hall volunteers, once Cllr. Wilkins has had chance to review the current position of the team and areas that need covering. The Clerk will look at reviewing risk assessments to ensure they are fit for purpose.
- Cllr. Perren recently undertook a litter pick that included the school car park area to the front of the Community Centre which was heavily littered. Cllr. Taylor would ask the volunteer who usually covers the road side of the hedge if they would be willing to do the car park side as well.
- The Great British Spring Clean for 2025 is running between the 21 March – 6 April. In preious years KETT has submitted a pledge to collect a number of bags of litter and members agreed this should be continued. If the school were participating this might help in tidying the car park area and raising awareness of the problem.
- Slindon litter picks were resulting in at least 2 bags of litter each time.
- The Clerk will bring costs and options for anti-littering signs to the next meeting in May.
6). Correspondence:
- No correspondence has been received.
7). Items for next meeting
KETT update and litter signs. Any other items can be forwarded to the Clerk.
9). Date of next meeting:-
Wednesday 7th May 2025, at 7pm, Eccleshall Community Centre, prior to the Planning committee meeting.
There being no further business, the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 7.25pm.
