A meeting of Eccleshall Parish Council Planning Committee was held on July 1st 2026, at Eccleshall Community Centre at 7.30pm.

Cllrs. Jones and Reid abstained from voting on planning applications to avoid any conflict of interests with duties within Stafford Borough Council.

There were no objections to this application in line with the Highways recommendation that a condition is applied to state that ‘The agricultural workers dwelling hereby permitted shall remain ancillary to Holding 7, Rue Barn, Cash Lane, Garmelow, Stafford, Staffordshire ST21 6HW for an agricultural worker only and shall not be sold, let or occupied independently for the lifetime of the development.’

148/26). Any Other Planning Matters: –
- To consider Stafford Borough Council’s Local Plan Communication and Engagement Strategy Consultation – 2026 and agree/commence a response for submission (deadline 28 July 2026):
Members reviewed the consultation documents and draft responses provided for the key themes section of the consultation and amended as required. The committee also put forward suggestions for the Borough vision that were in line with parish aspirations. These included retention and protection of character and heritage; protection of agricultural land and practices; provision of facilities for older teenagers; the right houses in the right places and business investment to provide training and apprenticeship opportunities for young people to reduce the need to move out of the area.
The draft response will be updated and presented to the committee at the next meeting for approval.
149/26). Correspondence:-
- Further resident correspondence has been received in respect of 26/41886/FUL – Erection of agricultural livestock and storage building and relocation of field access. Land At Offleybrook Stafford. Since consideration at the previous meeting, reports from Highways and the Conservation Officer have been submitted, providing evidence and advising refusal of the application. In light of the new information provided it was resolved to submit an addendum response to support the recommendation for refusal by Highways on safety grounds, and object to the application.

There being no further business, the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 8.30pm.
