100/24). Any Other Planning Matters: –
- Following erosion of part of the newly laid surface to footpath 13, SCC are planning remedial works (at its own cost) to the surface which involves laying of tarmac between the three gully gratings towards the northern end of the path. This was previously avoided due to concerns of the residents who own the land over which the path runs. It was felt that this would encourage use by cyclists and endanger pedestrians. However, SCC feels that only laying tarmac in one area rather than the whole path would alleviate these concerns and asks for the support of the Parish Council for this proposed course of action before liaison with the relevant landowners. Members noted that only a permanent surface would prevent future erosion. It was resolved to support this proposal with the proviso that the works would ensure water run off was directed into gullies/drains rather than flow down and erode the surface near to the path entrance.
- Members discussed the resident issues with the unsuitable footpath surfaces on Sancerre Grange, which have caused accidents and are currently inaccessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. Although the surface installed meets the specification approved on the planning application, it has proved unsuitable in practice. It was resolved to write a letter to Vistry senior management highlighting the serious health and safety concerns and lobby for a replacement tarmac surface as a priority. This will be copied to Cllrs. Reid, Jones, Borough and County Councillor Pert, and Stafford Borough Council, and possibly the Health and Safety Executive if within their remit.
