ECCLESHALL PARISH COUNCIL – TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE – Wednesday, January 8th 2025
A meeting of the Traffic Management Committee was held on Wednesday, January 8th at Eccleshall Community Centre at 7.55pm, following a meeting of the Planning Committee.
Present were:-
Councillor A. Reid (Chair) Councillor D. Hill
Councillor D. Hall Councillor R. Langford
Councillor G. Dale Councillor C. Ryan-Bloor
Councillor C. Wilkins Councillor M. Gosling
Mrs S. J. Worden (Clerk)
No members of the public.
1). Apologies:-
Apologies were received from Cllrs. Perren, Jones and Taylor.
2). Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024:
The minutes, which had previously been noted by the Council were agreed and signed.
3). To receive any feedback from the working group in relation to the project to build a vision for our town centre over the next 10-20 years, including parking and traffic flows, cycling and paths, the High Street as a destination as well as a part of local service infrastructure:
There is no progress to report as to date with regards to the outcome of the meeting between Cllr. Taylor and a local landowner to look at potential plots of land for use. It was agreed to convene a further working group meeting to ensure that the vision plan continues to be progressed.
4). Staffordshire County Council Highways meeting feedback:
The Council is awaiting feedback to the actions that sit with County Council Highways and the Clerk continues to chase for a response.
Cllr. Langford advised that the flooding issues in Croxton, raised with Highways, are still ongoing and continues to submit reports and photographs. It was also noted that the flooded area of road near to the tennis courts at Eccleshall is a new area of flooding that requires addressing. Cllr. Langford will write to Cllr. Pert to further highlight the problems and request support.
5). Correspondence
The Clerk advised that the Council has been copied into correspondence from local residents in relation to property flooding as a result of the recent and ongoing serious floods along Castle Street. Involved parties looking at this include Severn Trent, County Highways and County Cllr. Pert. The Clerk has also escalated the concerns to council contacts within the County Highways team. The resident has arranged a meeting with representatives from the office of Leigh Ingham MP on Thursday 9th January, which will be attended by a number of other local residents who are able to contribute to the fact finding meeting. It was agreed for Cllrs. Reid and Hill to attend on behalf of the Parish Council and the Clerk will collate a summary of the correspondence, meeting notes and actions, for the attention of the Council at the January meeting.
6). Parking survey letter for circulation to businesses/residents and general publication
The committee considered the draft letter as circulated with the agenda. Cllr. Dale noted the previous ‘adopt a trader’ parking scheme whereby businesses with a car park (not the CO-Op who already provide a trader scheme) allowed a small number of traders to utilise their parking in opening hours. It was agreed to add this to the parking letter to see if there is any interest from businesses with available parking to reinstate this initiative. It was resolved to recommend printing and circulation of the amended letter, Cllr. Reid to advise required quantity.
7). Items for the next meeting
Any items for the next meeting can be forwarded to the Clerk.
8). Date of next meeting:- 2nd April 2025, following a meeting of the planning committee
There being no further business, the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 8.25pm.
