A5013 Road Closure through Creswell Grove
Update on planned works, current status as received 13th May 2026.
- The roadworks will not be reinstated for w/c 11th May 2026.
- From Monday 18 May 2026, the closure will change direction — access will remain open towards Stafford/M6 Junction 14, with the partial road closure instead operating FROM Stafford towards Great Bridgeford.
Following the installation of traffic management on the A5013 Creswell Grove on Monday 11 May, the arrangements were closely monitored. A number of drivers, including several HGVs, ignored advance warning signs and continued towards the closure point, creating safety concerns for both road users and the workforce.
As a result, the Principal Contractor removed the traffic management from the network and it will not return this week.
A revised traffic management arrangement will now come into operation from 06:00 on Monday 18 May 2026.
School transport arrangements are also being updated and Sir Graham Balfour will advise parents/carers directly about the affected contracted school routes 538 and 541 when this information is available.
Chaserider Service 432 will return to normal morning times from Monday 18 May and will also operate an afternoon journey departing North Avenue 9 minutes later than present departure times at 15.35, following the agreed diversion route . This will restore transport options for fare-paying pupils and sixth form students travelling to and from school. Once Chaserider has confirmed the updated timetable information, this will be shared with parents of eligible pupils and the school for circulation.

County Councillor Pert has met with key stakeholders to raise concerns and ask for consideration of options to reduce the time the road is restricted.
